As we approach the holiday season, many of us connect with friends across the country through festive cards and well-wishes. What could be better than to send cards you have created yourself? Gallery 1001 member artist Sharon Olmstead will host a card-making workshop Saturday morning, October 25, 2014.
With guidance from an experienced card maker, participants in this workshop will be able to take home three different cards. One will be a pop-up style. One will be a painted card. The third will be your own choice. Bring paper, fabric or trinkets you might have lying around, or use those Sharon will supply.
Time will be 9:30 to noon Saturday, October 25. Cost is $15.00.
Come by Gallery 1001 to create special messages for the loved ones in your life.
A busy summer at Gallery 1001 draws to a close. Filled with a variety of guest artists, special receptions, new exhibits from member artists, and classes, the community of artists at Gallery 1001 truly filled its niche of providing art for the community. The events included sip and paint classes in June and August by member Lynn Felts and guest artist Casi Hamilton.
A photo tinting class in June by Dee Johnson brought interested students together to add a splash of color to their selected photographs.
New exhibits such as these from member artist Martha Brohammer provided continuous variety for patrons who stopped by during regular hours or receptions.
An August class by guest artist Gregory Folken allowed him to demonstrate his techniques so that students could try it themselves.
Member artists were busy creating art with a musical theme in celebration of the Walnut Valley Festival in September. These photographs by Dee Johnson provide unique perspective on musical instruments.
An opportunity for community members to glaze pots and assist in a raku firing was sponsored by member Mike Fell in September.
Now gearing up for a fantastic fall, Gallery 1001 will be represented by several member artists at Winfield’s annual Art in the Park, Saturday, October 4. Art enthusiasts will be able to enjoy shopping at Island Park, trying a few projects in hands-on activities throughout the day, listening to a variety of talented local musicians, and sampling tasty food at the food vendor circle. All are welcome to attend this family-oriented activity.
Watch for more events at the gallery in the coming weeks.
